BlueClip screens: dashboard, statute library, offence card, calendar, and statistics

BlueClip is a personal career journal, not an official records system. It does not replace your service's authorized notebook, case files, or records management systems.

Never enter protected, classified, operational, or confidential information — including details from active or ongoing files, third-party personal information, or material governed by your oath of office, your service's policies, or applicable law, including the Police Act, FOIPPA, the Criminal Code, and the RCMP Act.

If it belongs in an official record, it does not belong here. You are solely responsible for what you log.

A modern take on bookmarking your police notebook with paperclips — now digital, secure, and always with you.

New in 2.0 — The Library

The law,
in your pocket.

A complete legal reference beside your career log — federal, provincial, and municipal statutes, colour-coded and one tap away. Install what your beat needs from the Statute Catalogue; missing one, request it from the app.

Installed statutes read fully offline and update over the air when the law changes. No signal required at roadside.

Offence Cards

Find the section.
Cite it with confidence.

Every offence card shows the ticketed fine, the points, and the exact wording of the law — transcribed verbatim from official publications and one tap from the full Act text.

Hands full? Ask by voice and hear the answer read back — searches, sections, even "read me section 220."

The Library is a reference tool, not an official source of law. Legislation reproduced from official publications under their reproduction terms, with attribution in the app.

Clips

14 clip types.
One complete career.

Investigations, traffic stops, ITOs, deployments, training, recognition, sick days, vacations — every kind of career event has a clip type built for it.

Two taps, logged, back to work.

Quick-add menu listing clip types: events, transfers, LENs, vacation, overtime, training, deployments, ITO, and more

Interactive Schedule

Shifts, court, training, OT.
At a glance.

One view brings every clip together — overtime, court dates, training, day and night shifts — layered over your personalized shift pattern.

Tap a date. See the details.

Paystub Audit

Scan it.
Match it.

Scan, import, or input your paystub. BlueClip finds your logged OT for the pay period and shows you what was paid against what should have been.

Matches get a check. Gaps get flagged.

Scan and Import currently optimized for Federal paystubs.

Paystub scan results matching pay periods against logged overtime, with one period flagged short by two hours

Contacts

Contacts that adapt to your transfers and promotions.

When you transfer detachments or get promoted, BlueClip re-categorizes your contacts so the people you actually still work with stay on top.

Police, Crown, health, social services, ICBC — sorted. Business card scanner included.

Contacts screen with categories for police, emergency, court, health, social, business, and government

Wellness

Track the day.
Read the pattern.

Tap to log your mood in seconds. BlueClip pairs every check-in with the shift you worked, the court days you sat through, and the overtime you logged — so the patterns emerge on their own.

Wellness is optional and gated for privacy. Data flows one way — into your insights, nowhere else. Wellness entries never appear in other clips, exports, or graphs.

Statistics

Your data
comes alive.

Dedicated graphs bring the full picture into focus — helping you instantly see and appreciate your time commitments, progress toward goals, competency development, and the complete overview of everything you've clipped.

Statistics screen charting overtime, sick hours, and vacation across the year, plus court attendance

Career Map

See your career.
All of it.

Court, recognition, and vacation clips pin to precise locations. Every other clip carries location context. Zoom out, and years of service become a map.

Privacy is built in. BlueClip applies geo-fuzzing so no operational, confidential, or protected location data is ever captured.

your years of service.

BlueClip builds your timeline as the years accumulate — every recognition, deployment, transfer, and promotion in its place.

Patch over to another police force, and the timeline carries on without a hiccup. One career, told in full.

Career summary timeline winding through detachments, promotions, deployments, and commendations across 20 years

Your career stays
on your phone.

  • On-device. Every clip is stored locally and your data never touches a developer server — nothing you enter is ever uploaded to us. The only thing the app downloads is public legislation for the Library. No account to create.
  • Secured. Your passcode is hashed and salted with PBKDF2 and held in the iOS Keychain — never stored in plain text, never leaving the device.
  • Encrypted at rest. Your data stays in an on-device store protected by iOS data-at-rest encryption, with keys tied to your device passcode.
  • No tracking. No telemetry, no analytics, no ad SDKs. Zero.
  • iCloud, your call. Sync is off by default. Turn it on and your data syncs through your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit — the developer has no access to it.

Questions.

Is my data shared with, or accessible to, anyone?

No — not your employer, not the developer, not anyone. There's no account to create, and nothing you enter is ever uploaded to us: your data lives on your phone, and only syncs to your own private iCloud if you choose to turn it on. Traffic flows one way — the app's only download is the Library's statute files, public legislation fetched read-only from a public content host. That request carries none of your data.

Does it work offline?

Everything you log, you can log offline — all clip types, your calendar, contacts, and wellness check-ins work with no connection. Installed Library statutes are stored on your phone too, so offences, fines, and full Act text all read offline — exactly where you need them. Your subscription works offline too: once you've subscribed or started a trial, access stays unlocked in the field, in a basement, or on a long shift with no signal. A few things do need the network: installing or updating statutes, map tiles and pin geocoding for new addresses, and iCloud sync if you've turned it on. Everything catches up the moment you reconnect.

Where does the Library's legal content come from?

Straight from the official publishers — federal legislation from the Justice Laws consolidations and provincial legislation from the applicable King's Printer, reproduced under their reproduction terms with attribution shown in the app. Fines and sections are transcribed verbatim, and statutes update over the air when the law changes. Spot something that doesn't look right? Every offence card carries a Report Issue button, and reported corrections are treated as a priority. The Library is a reference tool, not an official source of law: always verify against the official statute before relying on a section.

Which police forces is it built for?

BlueClip comes pre-configured for 45+ Canadian police forces. Ranks and detachments are loaded for your force from the first launch — no typing to get started. Force insignia is currently available for the RCMP. Changing forces entirely? Patch Over re-skins everything to the new one in a single flow. Every list is editable, so reality always wins.

What happens if I move to another police force?

That's what Patch Over is for. It re-skins everything — ranks, detachment lists, and force naming — to the new force in a single flow. Your historical entries stay tagged with the original force, so your timeline still reads correctly. A routine posting change within your own force doesn't need Patch Over — just log a Transfer clip and pick the new detachment.

Will my data sync to iCloud?

Only if you turn it on. Sync is off by default. When enabled, your data syncs through your own private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit, and the developer has no access to it.

What is the Wellness check — and what isn't it?

It's a private daily check-in: tap a mood, optionally add categories like sleep or stress, and BlueClip pairs it with the shift, court days, and overtime you already logged. Over time, Insights shows the patterns. It is not a mental health app, a diagnostic tool, therapy, a wellness program, or an algorithm that tells you what to feel — it's a notebook for the part of the day no one else asks about. It's fully opt-in; if it's not for you, it stays hidden and the rest of BlueClip works without it.

Why a subscription?

Because privacy is the whole point. BlueClip doesn't run ads, harvest your data, or sell anything to anyone — so a subscription is the only revenue there is. It's built and maintained by a single developer, and what you pay covers the tools behind it and keeps the app supported and improving.
